We just returned to Bethesda from our place in Dewey Beach, DE, and
stopped at Kent Narrows on the return trip -- the Holiday Inn Express
is an extremely short diversion off our direct route home, just off
Exit 42 of US Route 50.

The Tufted Duck was there at 2:45 p.m. this afternoon, March 24,
Wednesday, swimming around and actively diving with a group of both
Scaup species numbering about 20 in all. It could be seen clearly
from the east lawn of the hotel. The tuft was in particularly good
view, occasionally blowing around in the strong winds.

Whatever the food supply is in this little cove, it must be abundant
and nutritious. The Scaup and the Tufted Duck look full of the
traditional vim and vigor. They dive frequently and can be seen
masticating something.

Signs are good that this excellent rarity will stay on here for at
least a few more days.
