I did a little bit of local birding this weekend along the Potomac/C&O Canal adjacent to Cabin John, basically 1/2 mile either side of mile marker 8.  On territory now are Yellow-throated Warbler and Northern Parula but I failed to hear La. Waterthrush in their usual location either day. The Double-crested Cormorant colony has shifted 100 yds upstream from mile marker 8 but is in full swing with around a dozen occupied nests.  I also checked out the Peregrines on the American Legion Bridge.  The male was perched out for an hour this evening on the MD side watching other birds (Belted Kingfisher, ducks) fly past with interest.  Hopefully this pair will have another productive year.
Good birding
