Riding home from work today at twilight, I stopped short when I saw a huge flock of Chimney Swifts, estimated at about 500, circling over Community Academy Public Charter School at the corner of Riggs Rd. and Rock Creek Church Rd., NE. At 8:03 I watched the whole flock funnel down into the giant chimney on the school building. I've never seen anything like this before, and it was spectacular. If you've never watched this many Chimney Swifts roost, I highly recommend it!
Good birding!
