While doing the Charles County May Count this morning, Jim Stasz and I had a sub-adult male Mississippi Kite at Allens Fresh heading north/northeast. Also of interest we had a Black-crowned Night-Heron and a Cattle Egret. Around noon I was doing a hawk watch nearby in St. Mary's County on Dixie Line Road. I was hoping for a Broad-winged Hawk and was rewarded with an adult female Mississippi Kite! I watched for several minutes as it worked its way southeast. I also got my Broad-wing, county tick #5150.
