I swung down toward the end of Soller's Wharf Road yesterday afternoon. If you haven't been to the field in question, as the road dips down to the flood plain, it bends to the right. Just after you turn, there's a hay field on the left. There were two nice flocks of Bobolinks there, one close, one distant. I'd guesstimate that each flock had at least 35-40 birds. Periodically they'd rise up in unison then drop back down into the grass. There were also several Grasshopper Sparrows singing on fence posts and several pairs of Blue Grosbeaks. I didn't detect any meadowlarks which was disappointing as this is usually a gimme spot for them. Better get there before they mow. All of the hay fields that I've seen lately have been mowed with few exceptions.
