west (Northern Parkway). Go 0.6 mile and turn left on Greenspring
Avenue (light). Then go 0.4 mile and turn left into Cylburn
Arboretum. Keep bearing left to parking for the Greenhouse.
Description
Three sessions in Series: June 22 (mansion), 24(greenhouse classroom),
29 (greenhouse classroom) Time: 6-8 p.m Location: Cylburn Greenhouse
Classroom and Mansion Instructor: Dr. David Thorndill, Baltimore Bird
Club Did you know that 1 out of 4 people bird watch? -- More than golf
and tennis combined! Join the many bird enthusiasts by learning how to
observe and study our feathered friends. The Baltimore Bird Club and
Cylburn Arboretum Association will be hosting a three-session
“Introduction to Birding Workshop” for beginning birders at Cylburn.
The first session will take advantage and use the bird collection in
the Cylburn Nature Museum to identify common birds. How to use field
guides and binoculars will also be discussed. There will be a bird
walk at Cylburn during the second session, as well as a discussion on
bird studies. Participants are invited to join Dr. Thorndill on
Saturday, June 26th in White Marsh to observe Canadian Geese and
Mallard Ducks and to go on a bird walk on the CCBC Essex campus to
observe a bird banding project. The third session will continue with
outdoor bird observations, and an overview of feeding birds and exotic
bird locales. Your instructor will be Baltimore Bird Club member Dr.
David Thorndill, Professor of Biology at the Community College of
