Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from June 30,2010
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note the interesting mix of transient shorebirds. It is often
hard to tell which birds are going north and which are going south. The
avocets and dowitchers carry breeding plumage, which suggests that these are
south-bound.
