Hi Everyone,

While driving home from Fort Smallwood a few minutes ago (6:05), I slammed on my brakes in my neighborhood when I heard the unmistakable call of an EASTERN KINGBIRD. I did a U-turn and was able to get on it for a moment before it flew toward Fort Smallwood in distinctive, kingbird-style fashion. This is really late, and not how, when, or where I expected to get this coveted October bird (my most wanted reasonable October bird for a long time). I'll check the fort tomorrow morning and try to document it better.

Other birds of interest at Fort Smallwood were two continuing BLACKPOLL WARBLERs (exact location they've used for days) and an adult CASPIAN TERN.

Good birding!

Bill
