Yesterday my brother Mike and I took off work and birded Kent and Cecil
Counties. Rain was off-and-on in the morning which, combined with the temp
in 50's, made it fairly chilly. The sun eventually came out in the
mid-afternoon which I think the birds enjoyed even more than we did.

Some of our highlights:

Eastern Neck WMA, Kent County:
Gadwall - 1
Greater Scaup - 10
Lesser Scaup - 2
Surf Scoter - 1
Forster's Tern - 62
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 3
Marsh Wren - 1
White-crowned Sparrow - 1

In the pond just north of Eastern Neck, there were 2 Cackling Geese with
about 600 Canada Geese. I think we could have had Cackling Goose at 10
different stops yesterday if we scanned every flock we drove by.

Chesapeake Farms, Kent County:
Obscured dabblers - lots - included at least Shovelers and Pintails
Northern Rough-winged Swallow - 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 1 male
White-crowned Sparrow - 15

St. Paul's Millpond, Kent County:
Leucistic Canada Goose - 1 - every bit like a normal Canada Goose but a few
shades lighter, as if it was bleached. Photographed.

Chestertown WWTP, Kent County:
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE - 1 - Thanks to Walter Ellison and Nancy Martin.
Snow Goose - 2 - one blue morph and one white
Northern Shoveler - 151
Ruddy Duck - 221
Caspian Tern - 28

Great Oak Pond, Kent County:
Snow Goose - 134
ROSS'S GOOSE - 1 - Thanks again to Walter
Green-winged Teal - 347
Ring-necked Duck - 1
Ruddy Duck- 159

Courthouse Point WMA, Cecil County:
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 1 female
BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE - 1 - our first record east of Allegany County, and
our first on the Eastern Shore (since this location is south of the canal).

Common Grackle - 3800
