         Now that there seem to be a few Evening Grosbeaks around it's a 
good time to remind people that one of the best to look for them is feeding 
on Box Elder samaras (i.e. whirlybirds).  In the past when they were more 
regular this would be the first place to find them in the fall before they 
ate all the seeds and moved on to backyard feeders.
       BTW Another name for Box Elders is Manitoba Maple.
