I spent the day birding in Calvert County, working north to south. In the North Beach/Chesapeake Beach area, it seemed liked the numbers of Surf Scoters and Horned Grebes were up, but the only unusual bird I saw was a White-winged Scoter, visible both from the Chesapeake Beach marina and the memorial at the intersection of Rt.'s 260 and 261.

At King's Landing, there were 3 Rusty Blackbirds (county closeout) with a small number of Red-winged Blackbirds. At the end of Mallard Point Rd, there was a sizable raft of Canvasbacks and Ruddy Ducks. At Flag Ponds, there were 2 Bonaparte's Gulls and a small numbers of dabblers -- 10 Gadwall, 7 Green-winged Teal, 4 American Black Ducks and 2 American Wigeon. My last bird of the day was a decent one for the county -- 1 Rock Pigeon on the Calvert side of the Solomon's bridge.
