This morning I discovered a handsome pair of mallards swimming on the vast 
shallow puddle that forms alongside our driveway after heavy rains. We 
jokingly call this flooded area our "lake" and it can take from a few days 
to a few weeks to dry out. Mallards have visited before, and a few years ago 
we even had a Solitary Sandpiper show up.
