Early this afternoon, I was able to get out for a quick walk around the Lincoln Memorial area, torn up and noisy as it now is. There were some notable birds:

In Constitution Gardens, a Caspian Tern and an Osprey were flying over the pond, and a female Common Goldeneye was diving in east end of the pond (A bird I rarely see on the Mall, and then either in the Potomac proper or the Tidal Basin).
Further west in Constitution Gardens, there were two Field Sparrows among the many juncos and white-throated sparrows.
Near the Korean War Memorial, again among juncos, there were several Chipping Sparrows.
Finally, in the remaining tall trees west of the DC Veteran's Memorial, a couple of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers.

Other birds included flickers, many robins, Common grackles, starlings, Canada geese, Mallards, etc.
