At the back of the trail where it bends around, I found a Yellow-Throated Warbler singing high up. Got some good looks. It's the same spot where I found one 5 days ago. This morning it was around for 75 minutes or so until I got out of range. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still there now, if anyone wants to try for it. Look high and listen for it--check out that bill! And those colors. My memory is that a YT Warbler is fairly uncommon for this place.
It's particularly nice to get a real close view of a Parula--I had one for a long time low and enjoyed looking at its colors--a nice male.
It was sort of slow today overall--not many #s (8 total!) of warblers but some nice species. Some of the stuff:
Yellow-Throated Warbler (1)
Parula (2, one doing its 2nd song)
Black and White (3)
Yellow-Rumped (2)
Brown Creeper (1)
Gnatcatchers (half dozen or so)
Many flickers and tons of rc kinglets. Disappointed not to find a Lou. 5 days ago I had 80 palms; today--none.
All good birding,
Tim
