I lucked in to at least two of Jon's SWAP Vesper Sparrows late this afternoon.

Early this evening, I found yet another VESPER SPARROW in Anne Arundel County at the Crownsville Containment Ponds.

While I was there, three BANK SWALLOWS kept company with several dozen Barn, Tree and Northern Rough-winged Swallows.

If you'd like to join me this Saturday, I'll be leading a bird walk which starts at 7AM there at the ponds. The hike will take us through the spectacular Bacon Ridge Branch natural area. The event is called the 'Walk for the Woods'.

Apparently someone was off-roading there and kicked tons of stone and mud into this area. They were feeding in the scattered dirt and stones. There was also a Vesper Sparrow with two Savannah Sparrows at the entrance to the parking lot for the boat launch. I am confident this is a different bird than the three that were together near the launch. I'm not sure if I've ever clocked that many in one spot before.
