Hi Everybody: After work today I figured that I would head to Cunningham Falls St. Pk hoping for a grounded Common Loon on the lake after reading all of the posts all day about flyover Common Loons, including in Frederick County. On the way I received a text from Brad Lanning that he had just seen an adult LONG-TAILED DUCK in Washington County at the reservoir on Warner Hollow Rd. I was already headed west and headed to Washington County first and the Long-tailed Duck was still there AT 6:20 pm. I also had 1 female hooded merganser here. I also ran into Brad Lanning coming back for a second look. He had just checked Fort Ritchie and had nothing there. He said he also had 2 female RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS on the resevoir earlie. I said thanks for the LTDU notice and that I was headed to Cunningham Falls St. Pk from here. He said he had also been there earlier and had Common Loon there (I do not remember if he said one or multiple). I said that is what I was looking for and took off.

When I arrived it was pouring down rain. The first scan through I saw nothing and on the second scan there was one adult COMMON LOON in full breeding plumage. It was actively diving when I left at 7:20 PM.

Thanks to Brad for the message. I had missed all of the Long-tailed Ducks moving through Wash. Co. earlier this spring. Looking forward to the w/e!
