Hi all --
Sorry for the delayed post, we got home late last night ...anyway, Barry
and
I spent some time yesterday around noon at Back River (Balto. Co.) in
rather poor weather -- spitting rain and quite windy off the water, making
viewing difficult. Nevertheless we saw some interesting birds. Still large
numbers of Bonaparte's Gulls, we estimated about 900 but many sitting
on water with heads tucked in and distant. These were both above and
below the Eastern Ave, bridge.) One *probable* Little Gull seen briefly as
it
flew up and then immediately settled, not to be seen again in the choppy
waves -- a first winter bird with its distinctive wing pattern. (This
downstream of the bridge). The numbers of swallows was amazing! (And
yes, we looked for a stray Violet-green -- hey, that bird in Virginia HAS
to
have gone somewhere!).
We had lunch at Bluefins, just below the bridge -- great food!
