Ok, so we weren't quite at Hashawa but in the county land behind it that is
the home of HOODED WARBLERS and my beloved KENTUCKY WARBLERS. Wife and I
found both today (after THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY- yes, Laura had to
watch). We got a good look at one of the Kentuckies and after we spooked it
enough it took to skulking in the brush and singing from it very close to
us. Never did see a Hooded but we heard it clearly.

Also had nice looks at OVENBIRD, BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, WORM-EATING WARBLER
and SCARLET TANAGERS. Heard YELLOW WARBLER, GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHERS and
BLUEHEADED VIREO.

Big thrill was the big brown bird I saw fly off thru the trees. My suspicion
proved correct a few minutes later when we heard a pair of BARRED OWLS call
from back there. I knew it was most likely an owl, but wasn't sure which one
until they called for us. My first guess would have been Spotted Owl but
then I tend to make real wild guesses most of the time. It just takes some
vivid imagination.
