I just wanted to put this to rest and remove all doubt. This was yet another birding learning experience. I received seven very nice responses to my post and six of them were in agreement. I learned six different nice ways to say "It's a Scarlet Tanager, pinhead." 

Thanks again to all who responded. I'll never forget to scour the ground in front of me for Scarlet Tanagers from this day forward...forget those treetops...they just make my neck hurt anyway.
