8:50 am
After a 55 minute search I saw one of the Dickcissels found by Mikey.
The bobwhite started calling at 8:30 and was still calling when I left.

Only saw 3 cars on Mellwood Rd for the hour I was there.

Hi all,

I went to check some fields off of Mellwood Road tonight, and was excited to
find a pair of DICKCISSELs. Robert Ostrowski joined me a bit later and we
walked along Mellwood Road checking the extensive old field habitat here.
The exact location is about 2 miles north of route 4 on Mellwood road, there
is a sharp bend in the road and a pull-off with an old road heading to the
north blocked by parking curbs, the bird could be heard from here. We had 4
WILLOW FLYCATCHERs which is a great count for PG county, they were giving
their "whit" notes, it would be interesting to see if they were all paired
up to see how many are really there. The last highlight here came as we
were arriving back at the cars and heard a NORTHERN BOBWHITE calling across
the road from the Dickcissels.
