Hi Everybody:

Sunday morning I was up in Green Ridge St. Forest in hopes of finding the RED-HEADED WOODPECKER originally found by Danny Bystrak and updated later by John Hubbell/Robert Ostrowski. I arrived about 7 :30 AM and saw an adult RHWO at the previously reported location along Orleans-Oldtown Rd. I then saw a second adult emerge from a cavity and fly up and perch near the first bird. I observed them for about 45 minutes. At times they would independently fly off in huge circles and were quite vocal at times. Several times I saw a bird fly back to the dead tree with food but everytime it would land on a branch and eat its capture. Once or twice I saw one enter the same cavity and shortly thereafter emerge. I did not see any sign or evidence that would confirm breeding while I was there.

On Saturday midmorning (6/25) I made a short run out to western Montgomery County and both saw and heard the DICKCISSEL originallly reported by Clive Harris on Westerly Rd. Prior to that I stopped in the temporarily abandoned new housing development off of the intersection of Black Rock Road and Rt. 28. On the back side I saw a pair of BLUE GROSBEAKS and then saw a 3rd (singing male) while looking at the pair. I also later saw a 4th one along Elmer School Rd.
