A WILSON'S PHALAROPE was the highlight of a drive down the Assateague OSV zone late this afternoon and evening, courtesy of Ron Gutberlet. It was approximately half way down the drive, but it flew off and we did not see it again, though it had been duly photographed.

Other welcome sightings included MARBLED GODWIT, PIPING PLOVER, and SANDWICH TERN.

Many species were present in large numbers, including LESSER BLACK-BACKED and HERRING GULLS, and SANDERLINGS were everywhere.

More information will be available after the many pages of numbers are tallied.

(Thanks, Ron!)
