The nearest station to our house recorded 6.72 inches of rain from Irene,
which is close to our unofficial measurement of seven inches in the bottom
of a trash can.
We are lucky to have only a few small branches down, no trees, no damage.
Our hummingbird feeder never even blew off the hook it's suspended from, but
I haven't seen a hummer there since before the hurricane. I think maybe our
yard hummers have already headed south (although I wonder if Irene blew them
backwards). Yesterday the only birds I saw were Turkey and Black Vultures, a
few crows, and one gull.
