I love that tree! Besides putting out great fruit for the birds in fall migration, the leaves turn the most wonderful colors in autumn. We had one beside the driveway when I was growing up (in the Cumberland area). Beautiful!!

We have fruiting Black Gum trees and the birds have found them, mostly thrushes 
nd woodpeckers. For the last week:
Swainson's Thrush - every day, sometimes two
ray-cheeked Thrush - most days
ood Thrush - most days
ileated Woodpecker - most days
ed-headed Woodpecker - haven't seen since 2004
airy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers
ed-eyed Vireo - most days
altimore Oriole - most days
carlet Tanager - all days
