All,

I found a northern shrike this morning at Green Hill Farm wetland area just west of laytonsville on Huntmaster rd. This is a delicate site and anyone going after the bird needs to take note of a few things. First, there is no official parking area or easy access. There is limited parking along the north side of Huntmaster road. Second, I would advise people to stay along the main trail, which is just a little farther north up huntmaster. The bird was seen at close range from this trail for about 15 min around 11am, before flying to the far east treeline of the property. This is public property, but also is surrounded by private homes. Please be mindful of where you are, and do not trespass. If I were trying to refind the bird, I think first scoping tree tops from the road shoulder would be a good bet.
