Hey everyone,

Jared Satchell and I birded some of the inland water areas today.

Schumaker Pond, Salisbury, MD -- 20+ Wood Ducks, 6 Pied-billed Grebes,
32 American Coots, 2 Ospreys.

Hurlock WWTP -- While standing on the dike counting ducks I heard what
I thought were Snow Geese calling. A flock of 15 geese were heading
towards us. As they flew over I realized that a few of the 15 geese
were Greater White-fronted Geese. The geese continued to circle above
and after a few minutes we decided that they were all white-fronts.
The flock landed in the field to the west of the wwtp where we were
able to scope the birds and get identifiable photos. This is by far
the largest number of Greater White-fronted Geese I have ever seen in
MD and to have a pure flock is pretty incredible to me as well. Bob,
do you know what the MD high count for Greater White-fronted Geese is?
The high count probably blows 15 out of the water :) Also observed
was a late Grasshopper Sparrow. Ruddy Ducks, Northern Shovelers,
American Black Duck, Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Blue-winged Teal,
Canada Geese and a single Cackling Goose were counted.

Tanyard -- 8 Forsters Terns, 6 Dunlin, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 5 Greater
Yellowlegs.
