This afternoon Jon was cleaning the leaves out of his gutters, and on his roof, when he saw approximately 36 tundra swans come in, circle several times then disappear from sight. He said they were flying in two groups, in V formations.
We went down to the nearby Mayo Beach area, and were able to see a group of at least 37 Tundra Swans in the water, accompanied by a handful of mallards. Out of this group, there were only 2 juveniles.
Best we can tell, this group was incoming just this afternoon, when Jon saw them wing in.
Welcome home!
The hooded mergansers arrived in the same area about 2 weeks ago
