Hey everybody,

On Monday, 1/16, I found 2 collared birds, a Tundra Swan & Snow Goose at
the Hurlock Waste Water Treatment plant.  I was birding with David Kidwell, Bill and Gayle Hill and they confirmed the id's. I gave the id numbers to Jo Lutmerding in the Bird Banding Lab and she provided the following info. today.

The Tundra Swan was banded/collared on 7/27/08, 15 miles north of Buckland, Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska as a 2nd year male.  Jo tells me that this bird is one of the longest west to east movements for that species in their dataset.  I had the Alaska coordinates so looked it up on Mapcrow and found that this bird flew 3,686 miles!

The Snow Goose was banded/collared on 5/16/09 at Seigneurie de Ile-aux-Oies, Montmagny Co., Quebec, Canada as an after hatch year female.  This location is on the St. Lawrence River about 650 miles from Hurlock.
