Tried again for the Barrow's Goldeneye this morning, and finally found it. Apparently the third time actually is the charm. It helped that viewing conditions today were excellent (sunny and clear with none of the fog or wind that had hampered my previous tries), and that I was using an infinitely better tripod which I borrow from the school media center. The Barrow's Goldeneye was just off the north pound nets, mixed in with a large raft of Common Goldeneye. It was difficult viewing because the bird had the annoying habit of diving every few seconds, but I had a long look that allowed me to pick out all of the key field marks.

In addition to the Barrow's Goldeneye, there were about five Bonaparte's Gulls perched on pilings, though the large flock from yesterday was not there today. There were also around 45-50 Long-tailed Ducks.
