Janet,
We had 10-15 mph winds on Friday and had no trouble hearing the warbler's rather robust, raspy chip note, which it uttered constantly. It was clearly audible from as far away as the entrance road. Check www.Birdingonthe.Net, click on Regional/Specialty then on Xeno Canto and search for Virginia. If the bird is within a hundred yards, you'll hear it. Go for it!

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Virginia's Warbler - to seek in windy conditions?
Tuesday's forecast calls for "winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25
mph." Birding in windy conditions is often challenging. I know there are
no guarantees of seeing the VIWA any day, but I'd rather not drive two
hours each way if the weather makes my odds worse than usual. What do
you all recommend -- go tomorrow, or wait for a calmer day?
