Like some others who have posted recently, i've just this past week noticed Fox sp at the feeder as ground feeders. First sighting was of a single. Friday, i thought i glimpsed 2 and confirmed that both yesterday and today.
So my puzzlement is how they are able to do this scratching behavior without falling on their face? White Throats & Song sp and even Towhees also can accomplish this - nothing in Sibley or Robbins (Golden Guide...) about the mechanics/physics of this behavior.
