The highlight of this morning's walk at Governor Bridge was flushing a
Vesper Sparrow, my first for the park. I was shocked to flush it from the
spot I did - a small gravel path right before entering the woods,
sandwiched between the Patuxent and the open-ended pond along the canoe
launch path. This habitat is a lot more "closed in" than places I usually
find Vesper Sparrow, and it made me wonder if the heavy fog caused the bird
to settle for less-than-ideal habitat after a night of migration.
