Afternoon all,
Well, as they say, timing is everything. I stepped out of my shop just before 11 AM for some air and a bit of birding. Ran into some very nice birds that I missed this morning, including a large (25+) flock of male BOBOLINKS, making a huge racket as they flew right over my head heading north. First of the year here. Saw and heard a male Common Yellowthroat (FOY) in the corner where they usually skulk, as well as a non-singing male Yellow Warbler with 2 chickadees. Also had a gorgeous male Indigo Bunting (FOY) perched right at the top of our dogwood tree where the feeders are, and a late Dark-eyed Junco feeding on the ground below.

Heard a Red-shouldered Hawk off in the distance in my neighbors farm field, as well as a singing Scarlet Tanager (FOY), and had both orioles singing and flitting about the yard. A male RT Hummer flew a beeline for the feeder while I watched for the yellowthroat in the corner. Saw and heard several Barn Swallows, a small flock of Cedar Waxwings (same group as last evening perhaps), Eastern Kingbird, lots of bluebirds, Chipping Sparrows, robins, catbirds, etc. too.

Gotta love migration!

Get out and enjoy it...
