Hi Everyone,

We had a few interesting birds here in Pasadena over the last couple
days. After hearing INDIGO BUNTINGs as night migrants early on 5/2, a
second-year male spent the last two days refueling in our yard. This
morning, it was joined by other arrivals, including BALTIMORE ORIOLE,
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, YELLOW WARBLER, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and our
yard's first YELLOW-THROATED VIREO. There was little night flight
between 1:30 and 2:00 a.m. this morning, but I did have a single
SWAINSON'S THRUSH and a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK.

In the early afternoon, a beautiful adult EASTERN WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW dropped in for just a few minutes.

At Fort Smallwood, an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE was singing near the wet
meadow, an on-time arrival. Numbers of nesting species such as EASTERN
KINGBIRD continue to build. A NORTHERN BLACK RACER took top non-avian
honors in the individual category; however, the numbers of RED ADMIRALs
was truly impressive. AMERICAN LADIES, anglewings, and VARIEGATED
FRITILLARIES are also common right now.

Good birding!
