Hi all-
Rolled out to Western MD this morning to check Old Legislative Rd. south of
Frostburg for Golden-winged Warblers. Great success. Many thanks to Bill
Hubick and Jim Brighton for directions and advice on this spot. 44 total
species. Highlights:
-GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER: 1 seen along the north corner of the field. Crummy

Liferrrrrrr!!!!! Round of drinks on me! Another bird heard afterwards
closer to the road, but I didn't get a look - and after being cautioned
against Blue-wing and Golden-wings singing each others songs at this
location - I can't saw for sure it was a GWWA.
-HENSLOW'S SPARROW: 4. Conservative estimate. Singing at multiple
locations.
-Yellow-breasted Chat, Black-and-White Warbler, Ovenbird, Yellow Warblers,
Common Yellowthroats
-Field, Song, Savannah, GRASSHOPPER sparrows, Towhees
-Wild Turkeys
-Baltimore Orioles, Red-breasted Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Eastern
Meadowlark
Also, I'm sure you all know this, but if you visit this area PLEASE be
respectful of the private property, and do not play recordings of GWWA or
HESP.
Good birding!
Nick
