The Federal Government does have a program for paying farmers not to farm
acreage, called CREP - Crop Reduction Enhancement Program. The size does not
matter, I have personally placed two acres into the program. The agreement
is for ten to fifteen years, depending on what you plans are for your
property.
Are the Harney Road ponds open to the public? Looks like a good spot.
