Hi all

Saturday, I went looking for the Ross's Goose that flew over Walter
Ellison's home. He pointed the way to Great Oak Pond. That was frozen over,
but on the way there I had a nice consolation prize. In a flock of Snow
Geese (my *only* flock of the day) I found two Cackling Geese. It was was
interesting to see Canada-types mixed in with the Snows, *smaller* than they
were. (It was on route 514 o the way to Great Oak.) I also saw a goose with
an all black bead (no white patch. I'm guessing a crossbreed?) Several Geese
had yellow neck bands. I could only read two numbers (KA89 and PY60). I
don't know where to send the information.

Eastern Neck was fun. I picked up Hermit's Thrush (which I had somehow
missed this year!)

The only other ususal thing to report was a Cattle Egret at Blackwater
Refuge.
