When Jane Kostenko and I were there Friday morning, we parked on Market Street west of 6th. There is street side parking on the south side of the road and there were no other vehicles there until Matt Hafner and Matt Anthony parked behind us. I'd recommend parking there and turning off the engine. We arrived WAY early so took a quick cat nap though I did wake up in time to see the guy come out at 0630 and top off the feeders. Also, we tried to not step onto the neighbor's yard and stay only on the sidewalk or the green strip near the street. The neighbor came out and waved hello and didn't seem perturbed so let's hope it stays that way since he's the one most directly impacted by people trying to keep their distance from the feeders.

On the flip side, we had several people ask what we were doing (they almost always confuse a scope with a long lens camera) and we told them it was a rare bird and one woman asked what kind so we told her and she said she was going to look it up. Nothing but positive experiences with the cars that did stop. Go figure.

Well before we saw the bird, we were surprised that around 7:30, a woman drove
up and asked us if the bird had come by for Christmas
yet and when we replied
no, she emphatically and rather nastily yelled "good!" So apparently at least
some people there are not pleased
with a slew of birders hanging around that neighborhood...

One potential source of irritation for nearby residents would be cars idling at the site for ANY length of time.  This sound can carry for a
surprising distance and can be a point of irritation for locals.  It is cold out there, but consider not idling your car during your visit.  It's not
only going to help with the locals, but will also lessen the carbon footprint of the total viewing experience.  That's a tough call and i don't
mean to get on a soapbox about this, but it is a consideration.
